Sierra Data Centers Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 4, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Sierra Data Centers collects, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and in plain English. If you have a question, contact us using the details at the end.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Sierra Data Centers ("we", "us" or "our") provides colocation, data center hosting, private cages and suites, disaster recovery, connectivity and telecom master agent services to businesses. Our mailing address is 2 Robinson Plaza, Suite 300, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
This policy applies to information we collect:
- through our website, sierradatacenters.com;
- when you contact us by form, email or phone, or sign up for our email updates;
- when you or your organization is our customer, vendor or business partner;
- when you visit our data centers;
- in other business dealings, such as at events.
Customers who place equipment in our data centers, or use our hosting services, control the data on their systems. That data is handled under our agreements with those customers. This policy does not cover it; your organization's agreement with us does.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and quote forms: your name, company, email address, phone number, the services you are interested in, and anything you write in your message.
- Email updates: your name and email address, if you ask to receive news or offers from us.
- Emails, calls and meetings: your contact details and what we discuss.
- Customers, vendors and partners: business contact details, billing information, records of service requests, and the names and contact details of the people you authorize to manage your account or to access your equipment and records of their facility visits.
We do not ask for sensitive information (such as Social Security numbers, health information or financial account numbers) through our website. Please do not send it through our forms.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Like most websites, our web servers record your IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for, the page that referred you, and the date and time. We use these logs to run and secure the site.
- Cookies and similar technologies. See section 5.
Information from other sources
We may receive business contact information from our affiliated company (see section 4), from referral partners, from carriers and vendors we work with on your behalf, and from public sources such as your company's website or professional networking profiles.
Facility security: video and biometric data
Our Pittsburgh and Metro Columbus data centers use video cameras and biometric access readers to protect the facilities and our customers' equipment. This part of the policy applies to that information instead of section 4.
- What we collect. Video recordings of facility areas. For people enrolled in our access-control system, a biometric template (a mathematical representation of a fingerprint or face), together with the person's name and records of when they enter.
- Why. Only for facility security and access control.
- Notice and consent. We give written notice and obtain written consent from each person before enrolling them in biometric access control.
- Sharing. We do not sell video or biometric data. We share it only with the security vendors who operate these systems for us, or when the law requires, for example to comply with a subpoena or court order.
- Retention. We keep video and biometric data only as long as needed for security and access control. We delete a person's biometric data when their access ends or the purpose for collecting it has been met, and always within the time limits set by applicable law.
- Questions. Contact us using the details in section 16.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your questions and requests and prepare quotes;
- provide, manage and bill for our services, and support our customers;
- send newsletters, service news and marketing emails (you can opt out at any time; see section 6);
- operate, secure and improve our website, and prevent spam, fraud and abuse;
- understand how our website and marketing are performing;
- secure our data centers and control access to them (see section 2);
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements; and
- for any other purpose we describe when we collect it, or with your consent.
4. How we share information
We share personal information only as described here:
- Our affiliated company. Sierra Data Centers and Sierra Experts (sierraexperts.com) are affiliated companies under common leadership and share a marketing team. Inquiries and contact details may be shared between the two companies so we can respond to you and tell you about the services of either company. You can opt out of marketing from either company at any time.
- Service providers. Companies that work for us, such as website hosting, email and newsletter delivery, customer relationship management, analytics, spam protection, payment processing and IT support. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- Carriers and vendors you ask us to involve. For example, when you ask us to get a quote or order a service from a telecom carrier or other vendor on your behalf.
- Legal and safety reasons. When we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena or court order, or is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of Sierra Data Centers, our customers or others.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (ads targeted to you based on your activity across other companies' websites).
5. Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use them, and similar technologies, as follows:
- Analytics. Our website does not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. We may add an analytics service, such as Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site. If we do, it will set cookies and send information about your visit, such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, and device and browser details, to the analytics provider, and we will update this policy.
- Spam protection. We may use a spam-protection service, such as Cloudflare Turnstile, on our forms. It collects device and usage information to tell people from bots.
Your choices. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies; the site will still work, though some features may not. If we add Google Analytics, you can opt out with Google's browser add-on.
6. Email marketing and how to opt out
We send marketing emails, such as our email updates, to people who have signed up or who have a business relationship with us. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link and our mailing address. You can also opt out by emailing Sales@SierraDC.com. We will honor opt-out requests within 10 business days. We keep your email address on a "do not email" list so we do not contact you again. Even if you opt out of marketing, we may still send you messages about your account or services you have with us.
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as we reasonably need it for the purposes in this policy: for example, to respond to your inquiry, to maintain our relationship with you or your organization, to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements, and to resolve disputes. When we no longer need it, we delete it or de-identify it. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
8. How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access. No website, email or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information you send us.
9. Children
Our website and services are intended for businesses and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and learn how we use and share it;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- receive a copy of your information in a portable format;
- opt out of the sale of personal information, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, targeted advertising, and certain profiling (as explained in section 4, we do not sell or share personal information); and
- appeal if we decline your request.
Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and a number of other states have some or all of these rights under their state privacy laws. Some of these laws may not apply to us or to every type of information, but we will consider requests from anyone and respond as the law requires. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
For California residents: in the past 12 months we have collected the categories of information described in section 2: identifiers and contact details (such as name, email address, phone number and IP address); professional information (such as company and job title); commercial information (such as services purchased or requested); internet activity (such as pages viewed on our site); and, for people who visit or are enrolled in access control at our facilities, video recordings and biometric information (see section 2). We collect it from the sources, use it for the purposes, and disclose it to the categories of recipients described in sections 2 to 4. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give you a right to limit its use.
Other choices: you can unsubscribe from marketing emails (section 6) and control cookies in your browser (section 5).
11. How to make a request
Email Sales@SierraDC.com or call 412.722.0707, or write to us at 2 Robinson Plaza, Suite 300, Pittsburgh, PA 15205. Please tell us what you are asking for and how to reach you. To protect your information, we will verify your identity before we act on a request, usually by matching information you give us with information we already hold. You can use an authorized agent to make a request for you; we may ask for proof that the agent is authorized and may still need to verify your identity. We will respond within the time the applicable law requires (usually 45 days). If we decline your request, we will explain why, and you can appeal by replying to our decision. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of an appeal, you may contact your state attorney general.
12. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common standard for how websites should respond to it, so our website does not respond to Do Not Track signals.
Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a browser setting that tells websites you want to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information. Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is currently nothing for a GPC signal to switch off. If that changes, we will treat a GPC signal as a valid request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser, where the law requires.
13. International visitors
We are based in the United States, and our services are aimed at U.S. businesses. If you visit our website from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your personal information on these legal bases: to take steps you request before entering into a contract, or to perform a contract with you or your organization; our legitimate interests in running and promoting our business, responding to inquiries and securing our website; your consent, where we ask for it (you can withdraw it at any time); and to comply with legal obligations. Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your information, or to receive a copy of it, using the contact details in section 11. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
14. Links to other websites
Our website links to other websites and social media pages, including our affiliated company's site. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Please read their privacy policies.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the effective date at the top. If we make material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to point them out, for example with a notice on our website.
